Algoritmo Blowfish con ejemplos

Blowfish es una técnica de cifrado diseñada por Bruce Schneier en 1993 como alternativa a la técnica de cifrado DES . Es significativamente más rápido que DES y proporciona una buena tasa de cifrado sin que hasta la fecha se haya encontrado una técnica de criptoanálisis eficaz . Es uno de los primeros cifrados de bloque seguros que no está sujeto a ninguna patente y, por lo tanto, está disponible gratuitamente para que cualquiera lo use.

  1. tamaño de bloque : 64 bits
  2. keySize : tamaño variable de 32 bits a 448 bits
  3. número de subclaves : 18 [P-array]
  4. número de rondas : 16
  5. número de casillas de sustitución : 4 [cada una con 512 entradas de 32 bits cada una]

Algoritmo de cifrado Blowfish

Todo el proceso de cifrado se puede elaborar como: 

Veamos cada paso uno por uno:

Paso 1: Generación de subclaves: 

  • Se necesitan 18 subclaves{P[0]…P[17]} tanto en el proceso de cifrado como de descifrado y se utilizan las mismas subclaves para ambos procesos.
  • Estas 18 subclaves se almacenan en una array P en la que cada elemento de la array es una entrada de 32 bits.
  • Se inicializa con los dígitos de pi(?).
  • La representación hexadecimal de cada una de las subclaves viene dada por:

  • Ahora cada una de las subclaves se cambia con respecto a la clave de entrada como:

La array P resultante contiene 18 subclaves que se utilizan durante todo el proceso de cifrado.

Paso 2: inicialice las cajas de sustitución: 

  • Se necesitan 4 cajas de sustitución (S-boxes){S[0]…S[4]} tanto en el proceso de cifrado como de descifrado, cada S-box tiene 256 entradas{S[i][0]…S[i][ 255], 0&lei&le4} donde cada entrada es de 32 bits.
  • Se inicializa con los dígitos de pi(?) después de inicializar la array P. ¡Puedes encontrar las s-boxes aquí!

Paso 3: Cifrado: 

  • La función de cifrado consta de dos partes: 
    a. Rondas: el cifrado consta de 16 rondas y cada ronda (Ri) toma entradas del texto sin formato (PT) de la ronda anterior y la subclave correspondiente (Pi). La descripción de cada ronda es la siguiente:

Descifrado

El proceso de desencriptación es similar al de encriptación y las subclaves se usan al revés{P[17] – P[0]}. Todo el proceso de descifrado se puede elaborar como:

Paso 1: Generación de subclaves: 

  • Se necesitan 18 subclaves{P[0]…P[17]} en el proceso de descifrado.

Ventajas y desventajas del algoritmo Blowfish:
  • Blowfish es un cifrado de bloque rápido, excepto cuando se cambia de clave. Cada nueva clave requiere un procesamiento previo equivalente a 4 KB de texto.
  • Es más rápido y mucho mejor que DES Encryption.
