Método Python List count()

Python List count() es una función incorporada en Python que devuelve el recuento de cuántas veces aparece un objeto determinado en una Lista . La función count() se usa para contar elementos en una lista, así como una string.

Sintaxis: 

list_name.count(objeto) 

Parámetros: 

El objeto son las cosas cuya cuenta se va a devolver. 

Devoluciones: 

El método count() devuelve el recuento de cuántas veces aparece el objeto en la lista.

Excepción: 

Si se pasa más de 1 parámetro en el método count(), devuelve un TypeError .

Ejemplo 1: Uso de count()

# an object appears in a list using count() method
 
list1 = [1, 1, 1, 2, 3, 2, 1]
 
# Counts the number of times 1 appears in list1
print(list1.count(1))
 
list2 = ['a', 'a', 'a', 'b', 'b', 'a', 'c', 'b']
 
# Counts the number of times 'b' appears in list2
print(list2.count('b'))
 
list3 = ['Cat', 'Bat', 'Sat', 'Cat', 'cat', 'Mat']
 
# Counts the number of times 'Cat' appears in list3
print(list3.count('Cat'))

Ejemplo 2: error de tipo

list1 = [1, 1, 1, 2, 3, 2, 1]
 
# Error when two parameters is passed.
print(list1.count(1, 2))

Ejemplo 3: contar elementos de tupla y enumerar dentro de la lista

# Count the number of times sublist

Aplicación práctica

 Digamos que queremos contar cada elemento de una lista y almacenarlo en otra lista o, por ejemplo, en un diccionario.

lst = ['Cat', 'Bat', 'Sat', 'Cat', 'Mat', 'Cat', 'Sat']
 
# To get the number of occurrences
# of each item in a list
print ([ [l, lst.count(l)] for l in set(lst)])

# of each item in a dictionary
print (dict( (l, lst.count(l) ) for l in set(lst)))
